5.25 hp B&S with a no fuel problem

This 5.25hp B&S engine is mounted in a Poulan mower type WE6425SC. The engine is a 12C802, type 0816-02. What been done so far:
Replace torn primer bulb
New sparkplug, cleaned flywheel, cleaned and reset coil. Flushed gas tank, cleaned carbuerator,
when I spray fuel directly into carb, the mower starts, but does not keep running. Pressing the primer bulb seems to have no effect at all. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Jm |

| You may or may not have 2 separate problems. I like to use carb spray rather that squirting gas as I have more control over it. But if it will only run with fuel squirted into the carb- that would indicate you still are dealing with a carb issue, maybe a poor intake seal or cracked intake. If the primer is not working and there is fuel in the bowl and the bowl is sealed, it is likely the air filter base or gasket needs to be replaced. What new parts did you install when you cleaned the carb? |

| Thanks for your reply. I use carb spray also. There is fuel in the bowl, no leaks. No parts replaced when cleaning carb. The float assembly was the only thing that was removed. Carb has no adjustments. What can go wrong with the air filter base? |

| The air filter base can warp where it has to seal to the end of the carb. Some say the use of 2 gaskets will help. It is possible the old bowl seal is also not sealing. Did you not remove the base or carb when you cleaned it? But if your saying that you can't keep it running w/a shot of carb spray- you should keep looking. |
