I can't say that I have ever worked on one of these. On parts look up, they show the standard Briggs carb- that would be the similar design as a typical utility engine or even a Quantum would have. According to your date code- it should have that carb which uses a 398188 needle and seat kit. Should you try to buy the carb complete- it tells you to buy the Ruixing carb. In fact, they also give another serial break for yet another carb which all go to the 590907- which is not stocked at my distributor at all.

Thanks for the info I did buy the 398188 and the seat is to small and we tried other seats and they were to small. The silly part all I need is the seat it's a shame to buy a new carb for such a small part.

I have to ask if you are familiar installing that number kit. Many carbs have that needle well bored very close to the same size as the seat. Others the bore is larger and really only taper near the end. Sometimes a light coat of lube around the seat is what it takes to almost snap in to place. I'm curious if the IPL that you looked at shows the difference of the carb styles like mine did. And if so, did you have the Briggs designed carb or not.

Customer wanted the snowblower fixed this week so I bought a new carb. I now have 2-carbs and all they need is the o-ring needle seat. has anyone try to use an o-ring vs the needle seats my other solution will be to leave one of the carbs with a parts guy and he can try seats from other carbs. I was also thinking the seat from an old B&S 8-hp snowblower engine with those weird carbs I believe they had a large seat vs the new carbs.

Me must think Briggs has a catalog error. How much bigger would you say the seat you need is? Or do you have a dimension? I assume that you are speaking of a viton/ rubber seat and a solid needle? Do you know the color of the old seat?
