how would it compare to a toro personal pace w/aluminium deck..ie dealer model..

Toro certainly has something special w/ their premium line. I think generally the quality of cut is better and the build is top notch. That being said, the Deere's that you see are a capable mower and built solidly - just not quite to the same level as the premium Toro. The wheel clutches are very close to the same build so maneuverability should be similar. The Deeres do pack the grass in underneath the cover nicely and will affect operation if not removed and cleaned. Once a year should do. 3? screws on either side of the cover. The Deere typically has the Briggs engine on top which is proven. That or the Honda engine would be my preferred engines on the Toro.
