John Deere JS61 rear belt change

Recently purchased this unit. Can't believe the abuse people give to their lawn equipment (no oil on the stick, if there, low and real black). The two Torex screws on the rear cover are rusted shut. Why Torex? Soaked them in wd40 both top and bottom. Still won't budge. Thinking of just drilling the screws out and replace later. Was wondering if anyone had another solution to removing those screws - and the rear drive cover. Also, there is a tension spring that was removed and attached with the mower for re-installation when the belt is replaced. The spring goes into the belt drive somehow. Can't find any documentation as to how to attach. Would appreciate ideas.
