Oy that poor thing is desperate for sunlight.

Check the edge of the leaves. If there is a fine fringe, like tiny eyelashes, on the edge of the leaves, then it is an Aeonium.

If not, then it is likely an Echeveria such as 'Imbricata' or a Graptoveria. But please give that poor plant more light!

Either way, you can cut off the rosette, leaving about 3/4" of stem attached, and reroot it. The stem can be shortened, and it can produce new rosettes again, this time more than one.

But the plant needs more light!

It does seem to be an Aeoniumâ¦thank you for your speedy response. It has been getting light from a bright window since I got it. I just repotted it ealier today and I was just wondering if I left it the way it is without attempting to re-root it would it get new branches or is re-rooting my best option for new growth?

The bloom (meaning the part that can be rubbed off) on the leaves suggested Echeveria to me. You thinking it seems Aeonium...does this mean you found cilia on the leaf edges, as Hoovb asked about? I don't see any hairs when I enlarge the pic.

Considering you're in MA & bright light in winter may not be very strong, I'd say you may need to put it under grow lights until you can give it more natural light or take it outdoors. I would think you could cut & re-root as hoovb suggested. A smaller pot would be better as well. If it is an Echeveria, you may not get any pups or branches, depending on which species it is. If Aeonium, it could branch & pup. Aeonium are winter growers.
