hello bboy, thanks a lot, I just checked on the internet some pics, and some were exactly the same as the fruits I picked.

if so, that would not be too bad, as it seems to be a very vigorous cultivar. I just was worried that it could be a mildewy type.

tomorrow I can lay my hands on some great and heavy book on trees and look it up.

because I am kind of fond of reliable data, it took 30 secs in the book (which is the tree version of the Hosta-tomb by Schmid(?))
with the internet search, all kind of completely wrong pics popped up, bearing some Evereste label just the same.

my book confirms that it is most likely Evereste,

You will know more when it flowers (white) - I have this, along with the lovely old-timer, also white flowered, John Downie. Sterling little trees, both of them.
