| This plant was growing in a container. My father in law bought it at Walmart here in south Charlotte - it had no tag. In the spring it had beautiful blue/purple flowers. The one he has grows tall, I took a cutting and it is doing well and has not lost its leaves during the fall or winter. I have it in a small container outside and it is doing well. I recently moved it into its own pot. |

| Looks like a kind of sage. Does a bruised leaf smell like sage? Salvia officinalis. |

| It's not Salvia officinalis from what I can see though it may be another Salvia. FataMorgana |
|
| I agree with Fatamorgana - not S officinalis IMO. |
|
| Salvia equal opposite leaf arrangement. This one has alternate leaves. |

| Could it be a type of Cistus? |
|
| No smell from the leaves, I will try to take a picture of the established plant my in-laws have, and post it in the next few days |

| Leucophyllum frutescens or similar species I bet. |

| That's it! Great links too! Thank you very very much! Awesome looking plant. |
|
| Please note it must have all day sun and PERFECT drainage in your climate. It's adapted to only need 5 to 10 inches of rain a YEAR. It may survive for a while in less than ideal conditions but you'll lose it sooner than normal. |

| Will this shrub do well as a container plant? |
|
| They seem happier in the ground, although that may have more to do with watering and potting mixes. Not a house plant in any event. |

| Large container. I had one for years in a bed under the eaves of my house, and it got lots of rain every time we had a rain, and that can be quite a lot in my area. 60"+ per year easily. It was very happy. It was L. frutescens 'silverado'. However, I'm going to get another one soon, so thanks Saltcedar, for posting that link. Lynn's Legacy may be a good one, and I know where to find it... |
