help! need to id this bonsai

hi everyone, my mother bought a bonsai a couple years ago not knowing what it was or how to take care of it. if anyone can help ID this plant i'd really appreciate it :)

why do you think it is a bonsai ... other than being in a tiny pot ...

you might want to find out aobut that if there is a bonsai forum ... or in houseplants ...

i would root some pieces and be done with this one ... if feasible ....

I agree. I think it is too tall to be a bonsai. Wait until summer to take your cuttings. They root easy then. It is usually a full, multi-stemmed plant. It needs a much bigger pot soon.

If the goal is to have a bonsai, one would want to start researching that. Bonsai is a process of constant maintenance, of above- and below-ground parts, not something you buy to just look at. The bonsai forum could help you know if this plant can be worked as-is, or other options.

It looks like the soil in this pot has a build-up of salts/chemicals.
