Name That Plant!

discolored tree with long leaves

Hello,
I'm trying to identify this tree. I found it in pretty bad shape with spots and discoloration on most of the leaves. The leaves are pretty long, some almost 20 cm. I can't tell if they whorl at the tips or if there are just two sets of very close together opposite leaves. leaves have some ridges and veination is alternating. I have more pictures.

At first I thought it was an epiphyte growing on an old stump, but then I realized that the growth was from new branches and the tree was draped in dead roots of a missing epiphyte.
