Smells like lemons

A neighbor gave me a clipping from an unidentified plant in his yard. He called it a 'butterfly bush' but he doesn't know what it really is. In addition the attached photo, here are the clues:

- Blooming in Zone 7b (near Atlanta) now (January 2013); usually the first thing to bloom in his yard each spring
- Small white flowers with tiny "T" shaped yellow anthers
- Strong lemon smell (don't think its a lemon tree - it does not fruit)
- Brownish woody stems
- 10-15' tall and 6-10' wide

What do you think? Any ideas?

Lonicera fragrantissima ?

Here is a link that might be useful: Lonicera fragrantissima

Looks like citrus to me. They take years to bear fruit. The blooms and fragrance of the blooms are very strong and wonderful. The bark, when scratched, smells citrus-y, too. Sound like yours?

Carol23 got is first time. Blooms in winter. Mine's out now. Very easy to grow from cuttings. Just shove it in the ground and it will root.

Carol, of course I think you are correct - thanks for your help.

Thanks to the others that responded, too.

I tried to reply sooner (and thought I had), but my post never showed up. Operator error, I'm sure.

Thanks again!
