What is the pest? There are seeds of Tulip tree for a size comparison. This weed grows in full sun at the edge of the lawn.

Thank you.

A ranunculus? (buttercup)

I don't know what that is, but we have it around here also. It is the tiniest thing! You can tell it is tiny because those Liriodendron seeds look so big next to it. I find it grows in a bit of a mound shape rather than a sprawling approach like ground ivy (for example).

I wonder if it could be Geranium carolinianum.

I don't think so - I know that weed very well and the foliage is much larger and the growth habit is different as well.

Maybe I should post on the Weeds forum, also.

I certainly would like to have a name for this. It was not present in my former garden.

This is a good weed site.

Not sure about the Alchemilla - your site says it is "hairy" and I don't remember this weed being hairy. Can you push some of that snow aside and see? ;)

OK, now ALL the neighbors will be talking about me: )
I shoveled several areas of lawn until I found one of the weeds.

I don't see any hairs.
