| Hi. This is in wetlands in mass. I have never seen a root or plant like this. It's about thirty feet long. At least the part that comes above the water. A pond has frozen and I took this picture of a section. It's almost three inches in diameter. And not strong at all. It is invasive? Thanks for your consideration. |

| Looks like yellow pond lily, genus Nuphar, which is a normal inhabitant of ponds in the northeast. That section might have come loose from the bottom. Normally the rhizomes are found below the depth of the ice. |
