Lythrum. A prohibited noxious weed in at least part of North America, due to how it invades wetlands.

I agree. Lythrum salicaria, commonly known as Purple Loosestrife.

Make sure you cut off the flowers before it goes to seed. Very pretty, but it is not native and spreads quickly, choking out the native plants that the native wildlife depends on...off with its head, I'm afraid!

Easy to pull up by the roots.

It is similar but varies quite a bit from the variety that grows here in Michigan.

Michigan link images still not showing up for me. I agree that OP's image in question is purple loosestrife.
