I recently got this mint from the local nursery, can someone id the species/cultivar, apparently the guy was not sure of it.

What does it smell like? -i.e., pepperminty or spearminty or....?

The broad leaves with rugose surfaces and downturned margins remind me of Mentha suaveolens.

It looks like chocolate mint. Does it have a light smell reminiscent of chocolate? You can also try the herb forum. There are some geniuses there as well.
