| I rode past this bush today in my Berkeley, Calif. neighborhood. It's flowering now in mid-February. I'd like to identify it. Can you help? Thanks in advance. |

| has sporadic long thorns.. it will need serious pruning AWAY from that walkway ... google: rejuvenation pruning of flowering shrubs and start the 3 year process ... one of my faves on 5 acres [can get rather large.. and not suited to small gardens ... wide i mean.. not that tall] .. because its so early.. and so intense in color .... most of the very early flowers are pale ... not this one .... and.. apple like fruits in late summer.. that with 50 pounds of sugar.. will make a jelly ... [as would my boot with 50 pounds of sugar.. lol] ... for a real taste sensation .... try biting into one straight from the plant ... lol ... ken |
