Name That Plant!

Beautiful RED plant but what is it??

A friend gave me this cutting but she did not know what it was. She thought it may be grown in Africa. It is truly beautiful in her yard among her tropical plants and adds beautiful deep red color.
Any idea of what it is called?

If that's not a match, look at Alternanthera dentata. Does your friend remember seeing any flowers? That would be an easy way to differentiate, similar leaves, very different blooms.

I agree with Iresine herbstii, likely the cultivar 'Blazin' Rose'. -I grow it in my garden. It is not supposed to survive the winter up here, but it didn't get the memo. It's a wonderful plant and super easy to start from cuttings.

It is Iresine herbstii. I googled it and these beautiful photos came up of the plant.
