Please help me identify this houseplant

Hi,
I was given these by a lady who's colleague had left the plants with her when she retired. I have no idea what they are and was hoping someone here could help.
As can be seen from the photo, the plants are not healthy with some leaves dropping and others dying. The pots were very heavy which told me they'd been overwatered. I've had them a week now and not watered them but it's too early to tell if they're recovering or not.

it wont last long in a Styrofoam cup ... with no drainage

and while you are potting it.. the correct potting media will probably help ... yours looks like straight peat .. of which not many plants prefer ...

Thanks!

I think it is indeed Pachira aquatica which apparently loves moisture so they can't have been overwatered?

They're not in styrofoam cups but 10 inch tall white pots but with no drainage which I suspect is the problem. I will repot as suggested.

Thanks again for your help.
