ID tree in z5 arboretum

I took this pic in early May 2013 at the Root Glen arboretum at Hamilton College. It may be a one-of-a-kind custom hybrid -- perhaps a rare double-flowering -- but can anyone tell me what it is? It was growing in the middle of a bed of mixed perennials and small trees/shrubs... I'd estimate it was around 6 feet tall.
