Two plants and a crystal deposit

Posted by sophiera (My Page) on

Salt killed my garden last year and I've learned my lesson. After leaching a whole lot, I've become a little obsessed in making sure that the same issue doesn't happen again

I've used some plastic containers to collect the runoff and let it dry to see what remains (because I'm still getting lots of crusts)

I thought it would be sodium chloride deposits, square and all..but I'm getting strange needle deposits instead. I'd like to know what are they.

And I have these two plants. One of it is some sort of a 'lucky plant' that my aunt gave me. It grows really slow.

And this one...they've sprouted like weeds and I left it grow out of curiosity.

What would they be?

It looks like a ZZ plant,Zamioculcas zamiifolia, for the large one, and a Hibiscus ( family) plant for the seedling.

Here is a link that might be useful: Zamioculcas zamiifolia

Thanks for the information, though I don't remember having anything related to a hibiscus in the things I throw in the pot.

I have a sickly ZZ shoot (not in this picture), and it doesn't seem to be improving. Any tips on how to make it less sickly?

Seedling looks like a young Papaya to me.

The seedling does look like a papaya;depending on the zone you are you might get something good out of this! :-)
