My friend in California just bought a house and has these trees growing in her yard. She has no idea what they are.

These are all the photos I have when I went there. Thanks!

1. European, Japanese, American or Chinese species of chestnut?

2. Crabapple?

3. Another crabapple?

4. Crabapples?

5. No idea

Thank you!

Malus 9-10 yellow possibly 'golden hornet'

2 looks like a Prunus ilicifolia X P. lyonii hybrid.

Probably a hybrid chestnut, there are many combinations of species grown and pure sweet chestnut would not be my guess for this one.

I don't think the last fruit is Golden Hornet. Those fruits are much more rounded. Miniature apple shaped, in fact.

Yes, I think #2/3 is a cherry (Prunus). The bottom part of the fruit is very different between Prunus (smooth) and Malus (has that hole that is so distinctive of an apple or plant in the Rosaceae family and as shown in the last pictures).

'Golden Hornet' is not seen much over here either.
