unknown tiny evergreen ground cover

Hi,

I found this somewhere on my property and put it into my miniature garden in full sun and watched it grow. It retains its color even through this past very cold winter, so I have decided to keep it and propagate it. I just don't know what it is.

It has roots so not likely a moss. The little leaf blades are maybe a millimeter or two long. For such a tiny ground cover, it's very thick and dense, much thicker even in winter than a creeping thyme. It's pretty much the same color in both summer and winter. As you can see from the picture, it had tiny little buds on it in September. The feel of it is soft and herbaceous.

Any ideas?
