I`m wondering if it`s a Catalpa ( Indian Bean Tree ). Any chance of a pic of the leaves?

Actually I grew up with Catalpa trees and this is not like them at all. The tree is without leaves now. Our Catalpa trees had long string beans on them about 10/11" in length and huge, huge flat elephant type ears with a slight fuzzy feel to them. These pods are entirely flat. Could it maybe a unique specie of Catalpa?

If the pods make a rattling noise in the wind, then it is A. lebbeck, or Woman's Tongue Tree.

In leaf, Redbud has simple, heart shaped leaves, whereas A.lebbeck has bipinnate foliage. The latter tree is more prevalent in SoFla and is very brittle in high winds.

Yes, probably one of the many subtropical pea family trees that are prevalent in subtropical and tropical plantings and other man-altered landscapes. Form, bark, leaves and flowers all useful additional hints.

Looks like a mimosa pod, to me.

Agree with priswell, looks like albizia julibrissin/mimosa pod which should be pretty common in FL.
