It's definitely the Spathodea campanulata. Although it's native to Africa, there are smaller versions of the tree found in California.

Looks like a mix of rhododendron and sorbus, best of both!

A declared weed in most of the warmer parts of Australia. An exotic that looks fabulous in a park situation, but- it is a very heavy seeder, so probably a real menace in the amazon.
