Looks like one of the winter blooming honeysuckle species.

Thank you for the quick reply! Seeing the opposed leaves I thought about that too, but I also have an honeysuckle plant in the garden, so I compared them and this one looks quite different: new branches take an arch shape after getting long, but they start growing straight and much thicker than honeysuckle ones, also they become wooden much quicker. Overall, the plant looks more like a shrub than a climber (here is a picture of the branches).

Actually, after a bit of research I considered it could be a weigelia: blooms are quite similar to the escallonia ones (so I thought they might have made a mistake in naming it for sale because of that) and the branches' shape also looked similar. The leaves of weigelia were however more pointy and borders more irregular, so I was back to the starting point :-(

chiara89 - not all honeysuckles are climbers. Many are shrubby. Look up images for shrubby Loniceras.

It's not a Weigela.

BTW there seem to be two separate shrubs in the second picture.

thank you very much floral_uk and sorry for my ignorance about honeysuckles (I never saw a shrubby one, so I just supposed they were all climbers :-( ). I hope my little plant will make some nice flowers :-)
