Hydrangea-like flower but bracts like Oregano 'Kent Beauty'?

Edited to actually include picture!

I was taking a stroll after dinner the other night and came across this thing. It was growing in a small planter outside a restaurant and I have absolutely no idea what it is! I could have sworn it was fake, and it was dark, but my boyfriend and I both inspected it very carefully. It was planted into the soil, and we crushed one of the leaves to smell it. Maybe it's an obvious plant that I just haven't heard of. But it's beautiful (at least in the dark)! Help?

P.S. Sorry for the late-night cameraphone picture. I have slightly better ones if needed.

It must have been very dark, as plant is not visible.

Hi & welcome to Gardenweb.

The missing pic is not your fault, just a quirk of the system. After you've browsed your pic, then click preview, the picture info is no longer in the browse box. So if you edit your comments and click preview again without RE-browsing your pic, the pic is not included. So you can click back to edit, or re-browse your pic. When you're ready to click submit, if the pic is not on the screen, it won't be in your message, browse again to include.

It is a hydrangea.......looks like Hydrangea macrophylla 'Pistachio'. Probably a florist/greenhouse grown plant. These will flower profusely on small plants as well as out of season.

You know, the odd thing is that I actually have a Hydrangea 'Pistachio' and this really didn't look anything like it! But maybe that's due to the dark. I do love Pistachio an awful lot!
