What plant is this?

I am a resident in a tropical country (avg 86 deg fehrenheit/ 30 deg celsius), and has had the plant in picture for a few months. I am also a total novice to gardening.

Recently I moved the plant to a spot near the windows (I live in an apartment and does not have a balcony) and started to notice the plant, not just the leaves, was droopy.

I tried to support it with wires but the plant is still droopy. I was hoping to get the plant ID first, before seeking advice on what to do.

Please help!

I think that is called a corn plant. Dracaena.

Yucca elephantipes. Looks like yours is light starved and thirsty.

Thanks for the responses.

This is what the base of the stem looks like. A tad moist, I thought. Did I water it too much? Under-exposed it to light?

Another close up of the droopy plant.

The shorter stem seems to be in a slightly better state than the tall stem though.

Can the taller stem be saved?

Antheatam, does the pot have a hole in the bottom so excess water can drain out?

Hi missingtheobvious,

No, there isn't a hole at the bottom of the pot.

Antheatham, I believe the plant needs better drainage (i.e. a pot with a hole in the bottom so the roots wouldn't stay too wet).

But I am not an expert, so I am bumping this to the top in hopes one of the experts takes another look at your thread.

If all else fails, ask on the Houseplant forum.

I truly think that this plant is a lost cause. Before using that container again, drill one or more appropriately sized holes in the bottom.

Thanks for the responses, missingtheobvious and rhizo_1.

I'll change the pot to one with drainage holes and see if a miracle happens....

Thanks all
