Unknown plant found in yard

I've been all over the web trying to ID this guy. I'm not sure if its a shrub or tree. It is similar to manzanita, but not quite right.

I live an hour northwest of Houston.

A better picture would help. Could be Punica granatum"nana".

Thank you, but no. It's not clear in the previous photo how tiny the leaves on this plant are.

It is more like a cedar with smooth red bark, but the leaves are too flat to be evergreen leaves.

Hypericum? It reminds of Hypericum hypericoides.
