We have some species of Potentilla here in the prairie with fringed leaves and they are also quite a bit taller.

I very much appreciate that you (and others on this forum) took the time to Id the plants and in turn educate the rest of us :-)

The Potentilla anserina found over here is commonly known as Silverweed and the leaves are indeed very silvery-looking due to the coating of hairs. It is very distinctive. This example seems to be a much greener version.
