An old lady gave me seeds for this plant years ago - she bred canaries, so i bought some breeding canaries from her - then she gave me seeds for this wonderful plant to grow green feed for the canaries - its wonderful and not only did the canaries love it - so did our ducks and the chooks. Its coarser than lettuce, has big leaves and when it seeds it has hundreds of seed sacs along a dry stem about 6 inches long - each of these tiny sacs " has many seeds, as fine as dust" the lady said, once you have it, you'll always have it - we have folk wanting to grow it for their chooks, and we'd dearly love to know what it is - it is frost hardy an annual, with lots of new plants each year./
