Another understory partly evergreen ID

There were a lot of these in the understory. I was thinking maybe osmanthus but the leaves don't look quite right. They looked like they had retained ~50% of last years leaves and varied in height up to ~15-18'

Prunus caroliniana I believe.
Osmanthus has opposite leaf arrangement.
