I live in Decatur, GA. Last year in April, a Master Gardener gave me three plants she identified as Penstemon. The plants grew very tall, above 7 ft and finally bloomed in late August & through out September. Some blossoms appeared on the stem at the leaf fork & others at the very top of the plant. I have searched the internet for a cultivar name and could not find a Penstemon with a yellow blossom. On March 23rd I moved multiple plants, some with long tubers to another section of my garden. I thought the plant was going to be small, less than 3 ft, but they grew so tall and bent over under the weight of the blossoms and rain water. Can someone assist with identification of this plant? I have attached a pdf image that was taken from a carport. The bird bath is of standard height so one may see how tall the plant became.
