Thanks for the reply. I've only seen T. sillamontana in pics. If it's possible to cross that with T. zebrina, it would probably yield this plant.

Can't say for sure, but sillamontana has a reputation for being promiscuous!

Oh my, well in that case... You're supposed to say, "bless her heart" after that, to make it acceptably polite. ...as long as everyone agrees it's not just a "regular species" I don't know about. I love Trads!

The above plant turned out to be T. cerinthoides.

Since posting this, I've picked up T. sillamontana too. I'd be happy to share (either) in the spring, when they start growing again. Since both are hardy, I didn't pot any up for winter. If you can remember to ask me in April, that should be a good time, if you're still looking then.

I've also purchased Cyanotis somaliensis with the Trad 'Red Hill' label.

Im also looking for the cyanotis plant. A Lowe's near me had a 6 inch pot of it

but it was half way rotted to death!

I wonder if my plant is the true red hill? It doesnt look like any of these pictures.

As far as I can tell, there is no 'Red Hill' Tradescantia cultivar. I'd love to see your pic!

The Cyanotis I had didn't thrive when I put it in the ground in my Mom's yard. I think it was either too shady, too dry, or both. Some pics here:

Here are pics of my "Red Hill" and a pic of my sillamontana that looks different than yours. Mine is ugly and it is oddly named cyanotis samaliensis...

Your 1st plant looks like T. cerinthoides, and the 2nd looks like T. sillamontana, to me. Just took this pic of a pot in my (unheated) kitchen. That's a bit of T. sillamontana that ended up inside because it was already in that pot. By now, it has discarded last years' growth and has started over.

Well shoot, I went through so fast before I came to work, I didn't notice the pic didn't make it. Will add it when I get home later.

Probably, if not in your sunniest spot or your sunniest spot isn't that sunny, but after a few weeks outside in the spring, you won't know the difference.

Yes, with that solid pink flower, assuming yours is also T. sillamontana.
