ID for early spring wildflower in MS

These plants were found growing within a deep hardwood cove in Webster Co. in central Mississippi. Broadleaf, purple leaves (sometimes dark green), white flowers, less than 6 inches tall. I'm quite certain it is native, since it was found in virgin hardwood forest.
