| It looks like the cactus that grow wild in our area, if so, it is Echinocereus reichenbachii. Kt |
|
| I really don't think that this is an Echinocereus. Their flowers are larger and tend to have the spiny ovary clearly visible outside the spines on the body. This looks much more like one of the Mammillaria, but not being a Mamm specialist, I am not going to stick my neck out and suggest a particular spp. I'll leave that to others, more knowledgeable than me. | The ones here change constantly with the seasons and moisture. They look like ths picture above when water is scarce, then extend when moisture is constantly present. In other words, the cactus gets a bloated look to it when it gets planty of water, then the spines will lay flat as the cactus dehydrates during dryer spells. The blooms will be slightly smaller in dryer spells also. As I mentioned, it looks like the ones here, but there are other cacti with similar looks in other areas. Kt |

| Mammilaria sp |
|
| I just want to let everyone know this is a very young cactus. It's inside a 2-2.5 inch pot right now. And there were varieties with white flowers too. I was guessing it was a mammilaria sp. but I wasn't too sure |

| Looks close to some Mammillaria carmenae. There are a few withwhite spines & pink blooms, although most times you'll see white blooms & yellow spines. Well, that's my best guess, considering how large the Mammillaria family is!! |
Here is a link that might be useful: one Mamm carmenae w/pink blooms
