| Hi,
I'm new to gardening and I have some plants I need help identifying (this is in zone 7/6b): I got this for free last June or July from someone on craigslist. It bloomed a maybe a month after I got it--light purple stalks. It died back over the winter and this is the new growth.
This has been taking over a portion of my yard since last spring. I imagine it's some sort of weed?
One of many types of wild vines growing over a wild shrub that I'd like to get rid of.
I'm kind of afraid of what these might be. I'm still not very good at recognizing poison ivy/oak etc.
Another weed?
Thanks in advance! |
Follow-Up Postings:
| Third and fourth photos could be creeping charlie, Glechoma hederacea Fourth could be multiflora rose Last two photos I think are Japanese honesuckle. (I don't recognize the plant in the first photo) If my ID's are correct, you'll want to try to get rid of all of those. |
| Ditto carryb's ID's. 1. might be a skullcap (Scutellaria sp.). |
| I also thought #1 might be Skullcap. That Rose is infected with Rose Rosette Disease, if you plan to grow other Roses I would dig that out first and not plant roses near that spot. |
| Thanks for your responses!! :) I think I figured out what the plant in the first picture is: Ajuga reptans (I may have been wrong before about when it bloomed last year). Ajuga is apparently in the mint family, which might explain why the leaves have a "spicy" scent to me. |

| NOt Ajuga, if you ask me. |
| I was thinking Agastache on the first one. |
| No no. 1 is definitely not Ajuga reptans. Compare with Scutellaria ovata. |
| I think one looks like Agastache too. |
| Yep, the first is Agastache, not Ajuga. Thanks all for your replies! :) |
