Technically, the aftermath of flowering (seed capsules), not the flowers themselves. Maple flowers look......well, more like flowers :-)

That is a beautiful photo of maple blossoms. I guess I will have to wait until next year to photograph the flowers. Meanwhile, I will change my webpage to say seedpods instead of flowers.

'Samaras' or just 'seeds' would be more accurate than calling them seedpods. A pod breaks apart to expose the seeds; those are just single winged seeds. FWIW.

The Red Maples (Acer rubrum) around here are that red sometimes, but maybe you have different species down there. And if it's someplace landscaped maybe it's some kind of Japanese maple. But definitely maple.

Flora, I read that when you clear your cache and browsing history, the fix goes with it.

Most likely a red maple, Acer rubrum. These are one of the earliest maple species to flower - as early as January in more southern locations. And the flowers emerge long before the leaves. Also the long, pendant red petioles and red samaras are very characteristic of this species. Japanese maples flower later, when the new foliage is almost fully emerged and unfurled. The form of the trees is also not consistent with Acer palmatum, which tend to be as broad (if not broader) than tall.

Carol23, I have just tried out that theory. I just deleted my history and the ads stayed away. I haven't deleted cookies though - I don't need to at the moment. So far still no ads. (I shut down and restarted to check.)
