This is the mature cone. It has seed-like things that are the size and shape of 'corn nut' snacks. It is about 3 inches long and the photo is sideways. This is photo 2 out of 3

Please see my earlier comment -- this is a Banksia "cone" - not related to conifers. If you're feeling lucky you can try to propagate the plant using the seeds held within -- may need some treatment beforehand to effect germination.

the link you provided me is really a wonderful one and explaings propagation both from seeds and cuttings very well. I planted the cuttings today and will work on the seeds in a few days.
