Kind of resemvles lettuce, found in most city parks. Any ideas?

Compare with Dipsacus in case that turns out to fit. One definite hint would be last year's stalks still being present in the immediate vicinity.

Yes - Dipsacus fullonum aka teasel, would be my first thought.

Teasel is pretty rampant at my place and I have no doubt that is teasel in the picture.

Revisit the plants later in the summer after a rain to see the leaves, which form a cup around the stem, filled with water.
