Do any of you recognize this? I don't want to yank it up until I know what it is. Stems are smooth.

RE: unknown plant

To me it looks like Balsams, or Jewelweed, Touch-Me-Not (descriptive of their seed pods which explode and curl up when they are ripe). My grandfather grew them. They'd grow 24-30" high-pink, red, purple blooms. An annual, but they reseed easily. Butterflies and pollinators love them.

RE: unknown plant

Please can we see the whole plant and the tops of the stems? I have to say I see no resemblance any Impatiens I am familiar with.

RE: unknown plant

Is it blooming now? You can add another pic in a reply to this discussion if you are able to, seeing the top of the plant could help a lot. Looks so familiar, but am drawing a blank, trying to suggest a name.

RE: unknown plant

Heré's another pic. No bloom bud in sight that I can tell
