What is this Native Shrub?

Our new property is loaded with weeds and native shrubs. Can you ID this for me and tell me anything about it?

Closer view needed. Another point: if you are near one of multiple botanical gardens etc. down there with native plantings you may find some matches with your shrubs and plants at one or more of these. You may also see some familiar faces at local independent garden centers, certain native plants are in commerce.

Is this a better view? This seems like stuff hedges are made of.

It can't be Rhamnus ilicifolia because the leaves are smooth, not barbed like holly.
