Absolutely - I was in south Georgia two weeks ago and the rain lilies were in full bloom on the roadsides and in people's lawns. Beautiful.

It does look like rain lily from the flowers (top of flowers) but I can't get a good look at the leaves.

However, the growth pattern you mentioned does sound like rain lily, since it would generally naturalize better and better each year, resulting in more blooms. Not necessarily from the same plant but other new plants near it.
