Hi,

Does anyone know the type of tree shown in the picture? It's located in Brisbane, Queensland (Australia).

I do not see details....but reminds me of Delonix regia

Ah, thank you! I originally searched the net for "red flowering trees in Brisbane" and Delonix regia was a popular hit, but the trunk and branch structure didn't really match the pictures that were appearing.

However, as soon as I searched for "Delonix regia" as per your suggestion, the first picture that appeared was basically a direct match for the one I posted.

Yes, and commonly called Poinciana here. Also very commonly used in street plantings in the older parts of Bris. Along with Jacarandas. Caused huge damage to footpaths and roads but what a glorious sight in an avenue of them in bloom.
