Looks like a Claytonia/Montia sort of thing.

Euphorbia ipecacuanhae.

I've seen Euphorbia corollata set secondary flowers from the top of the primary flowers, so not surprised to see that ID. Too bad E. ipecacuanhae is an east coast only species, because it has an interesting look.

Thank you identifying this plant. I found it at the end of a long day of bird watching and flower photography and almost missed it. It is a new one to my life list. If you haven't been to the Carolina Sandhills National Wildlife Refuge it is worth the trip.
