I don't know what it is, but I have it in my yard and it's a weed.

RE: weed possibly

Maybe a Pyrrhopappus or false dandelion?

RE: weed possibly

Looks like Miner's Lettuce (Claytonia perfoliata) in the baby stage.

Here is a link that might be useful: Miner's Lettuce

RE: weed possibly

Definitely not Claytonia perfoliata. Looks like a weedy Asteraceae, as suggested.
Have you seen it flower? Is it rhizomatous, i.e. if you dig up a plant, is it linked to other plants by the roots?

RE: weed possibly

I havén't tried digging it up. It is raining right now so this weekend I will do that.

RE: weed possibly

Is this the same thing? It comes up in bare spots in the lawn by me.

RE: a weed possibly

Has a regular root.

garden2garden,
I believe you have cudweed. It seems like the OP has something different.

RE: weed possibly

I looked at several images on google and I don't think it is cudweed. As for the other plant, I have that in my yard but it is not the one I was asking about.

RE: weed possibly

maylingsmom, cudweed is the name for the plant that garden2garden posted, not YOURS. By the way, can you post an updated picture of yours? It might have be better recognized now that it is older.
