Mystery house plant

Dear all,
I'm a bit of a novice at this, so excuse what might seem to be an easy identification but I just wondered whether anyone might be able to id the attached house plant.
It's a hardy old thing, which I bought from Ikea back in 2005 and appears to be going strong. Would be interested to learn what exactly it is and any tips anyone might have on making sure I keep it healthy.
