Flowering grass

This popped up last year during our first spring in our new house and has come up again in the past few weeks. Not sure if it was planted by the previous owner or if it's a weed, but we think it's beautiful. Shows up around the edges of a bed near our driveway. Can anyone tell me what it is?

not a grass ... but a bulb ...

most likely ten tiny bulbs were planted 5 or 10 years ago .. and they have naturalized into that very nice gob ... technical term there.. lol ...

a good plant for the driveway edge.. since it basically disappears by mid to late summer ... and cant be damaged if driveway snow were an issue ...

one of what i call the spring ephemerals ... though that term is not quite correct ... but to me means.. a very early shot of garden adrenaline.. before most other things get a move on ... very ephemeral .... here today.. gone as soon as it starts warming up ...

do not remove the greenery.. until it browns.. as a bulb... once flowering is done ... they are storing energy in the bulb for fall leaf growth.. and a return next spring ..

Yes, grasses never produce flowers of this appearance whereas there are a lot of different kinds of plants that produce grassy looking leaves.
