Could this be some type of Lavender?

Hello, we moved in this house in Dec. and this is growing outside the fence, it smells very herbaceous and has a soft camphor note. I don't think Lavender is supposed to grow well in this hot and humid climate, I am wondering if it could be some different variety or related. Thanks!

Cut off the dead branches back to the new growth. Do this every spring after the new growth begins to emerge.
