I think the second one may be some kind of flowering currant, but I'm not sure. Last year it was totally covered in blackflies!

Viburnum possibly a V opulus cultivar. Is it really yellowish or is that a function of the photograph?

Yes, it's pretty yellow.
I've looked it up, and I'm fairly sure it's a Viburnum Opulus 'Aureum'.
Quite surprised that they're both viburnums, since they look so different!

I was actually planning to buy a viburnum yesterday until I saw your responses. Not sure that I need another one now!
