I'm assuming this is a shrub since it's right next to the house. The previous owner had an overgrown jungle...trees growing in the middle of the patio, etc. Everything was cut back, ripped out or replaced before we bought the house. However, they left the stump/roots to this plant that keeps sending up shoots. I would like to know if I should spend the effort ripping out the roots or killing it, or if it would be a good shrub. But after thinking about the previous owners' lack of care I'm also wondering if it's a tree.
