Mirabilis jalapa Common name Four o'clocks. Grows from tubers (not bulbs) in warmer zones. Self-seeds. Great plants.

boy.. i have had them for decades.. and would have never made that call on this pic .. try to avoid starlight down pics .. i dont know why.. but they are diorienting

one thing for sure.. to confirm ... is that the flowers open in the late afternoon.. get this.. around 4 oclock .. lol .. and are extremely fragrant.. as the plant get bigger.. later in the season ..

and as such .. they are nice to have near where you might sit in the evening... as that is when the stink is at its best ...

The foliage and flower form also struck me as four o'clocks and if they survive winter in your zone will have a rather large tuber type root.
